Message from the President
Farewell Symonds, Welcome Biesel

Every once in awhile we are fortunate to have very special people serve the Navy in the Northwest.  Admiral and Mrs. Symonds are those people.  They have represented the Navy well and have done a fabulous job of engaging in our community.  I think it is safe to say that they are friends of the Northwest, which is why we are sad to see them leave.  After 35 years of service, most recently as Commanding Officer of Navy Region Northwest, they are retiring and moving to Arizona where golf is the primary item on the agenda.
On June 9, PSNBA and Navy League hosted a reception to say farewell and thank you for all that they have done in our community.  It was well attended by Navy officers and community leaders.  The reception also welcomed Admiral Douglass Biesel back to the Northwest.  He commanded Naval Submarine Base Bangor Washington, and then served as the Commanding Officer of the newly consolidated Naval Base Kitsap in 2004.  He is now relieving Admiral Symonds as Commanding Officer of Navy Region Northwest.

We wish the best to Admiral and Mrs. Symonds.

2010 Community Report Now Available
The core mission of PSNBA is to provide a voice for the thousands of military and civilian personnel who support the military bases and shipyards in the Puget Sound region. Throughout the year we listen to the concerns and issues our members are facing. A delegation is assembled on an annual basis to carry these issues back to Washington, DC and present them to Senior Navy Officials and Congressional leaders.
The 2010 Community Report details the issues we are currently working for on behalf of our members; and a summary of the meetings held in Norfolk, VA and Washington, DC.
We encourage you to download a copy of the report, which can be found at
NBK Bremerton Breaking Ground for Child Development Center
In 2009, PSNBA advocated the need for a new child care facility in Kitsap County to serve the needs of the military and civilian employees at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Naval Base Kitsap. We are delighted to report on the Ground Breaking Ceremony held June 17, 2010 for a new Child Development Center (CDC) at Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton.
